Not all areas of rosemaling have a regional style. A regional style is one that you look at and know the area it is from. Other styles are more specific to an artist from a region. The rosemaling that is found in Sunnmøre is more specific to an artist.

Rosemaling is an iconic and traditional art form, and this class will explore the stylistic elements of rosemaling in the Nordfjord style. This class is designed for experienced rosemalers.

Unlike other styles of rosemaling the Nordfjord style was influenced by outside impulses. The style is not painted in Norway and it is up to us to keep it alive. The palette of colors is simple with no blending and shading. Many times geometric shapes are used. There generally are three elements to the painted bowls: the bottom design, the side design, and lettering on the outside.
