Vesterheim Museum Folk School

Have you ever wanted to paint on leather or vegan leather? A pair of clogs or boots, purses, wallets, belts, dog collars, photo albums, journals? These items are all fun to decorate with rosemaling!

Join Vesterheim for a weekend of rosemaling on leather. We will have time for at least two different designs and possibly more! Bring something new or breathe new life into items you've been hanging onto for yourself or as a gift.

Students will be assisted with choosing their own color scheme based on their leather items. The focus will be on Telemark scrolls and line work as the basis for the designs, flowers, and motifs. A freestyle Telemark design will be demonstrated, and patterns and additional examples will be available.

Rachel will help you with designs that work perfectly for the size and shape of your item. We will also visit the Vesterheim collection to draw additional inspiration from the designs used in embroidery and bunad handwork.
